The Oenophile's Australian Wine Bucket List

In one of our previous blogs, we focused on a worldwide wine lover’s bucket list, but there’s so much to do in Australia when it comes to wine-related activities that we thought we’d hone in and explore a few here. Australia has so many acclaimed wine regions, and some of the wine we produce is the best in the world. It would naturally follow on that there are certain wine-related activities in Australia that you have to see or do before you die. Here we explore a few of those crucial Australian wine bucket list activities.

Sky Dive and Wind Down with a Glass of Wine

This one’s for the daredevils! Skydive in the Hunter Valley, the Yarra Valley, Busselton, Nagambie Lakes or Adelaide, then relax with a well-deserved glass of wine afterwards.

Visit a Boutique Winery in Tasmania

Pop into one of the incredible wineries in scenic Tasmania, including Pressing Matters or Boomer Creek Vineyard, for an alternative experience.

Drop into the Acclaimed Jacob’s Creek Winery

Head to the Barossa Valley and enjoy the 42 hectares of vineyard, wildlife and scenery. Have a stroll by the picturesque creek or go for a cycle along the bike path through the property. Take a cooking class or sample the cuisine in a wine education and pairing class that the winery hosts.

Share with a Great White…

Adventure Bay Charters allows you to share a glass with a Great White in a designated viewing area. Give it a shot, if you have the stomach for it!

Enjoy a Drop at an Outback Winery

Yes, there are even wineries in the Outback, most notably the Southern Flinders area, including a few in the Northern Territory! Try Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Nebbiolo. Such diversity!

Tick off as Many as You Can

There are 77 wine regions in Australia, with between 1400 and 1600 cellar doors. Why not try to work your way around to as many as possible? Often, they are clustered quite close together, so you can knock off a few in one go on a cycle or bus tour. Support our wine industry and give it a red-hot go!

At Grand Cru Wine Fridges, we’re all about anything to do with wine. Once you’re done traipsing around Australia and the rest of the world sampling all the best drops in the most scenic places, come home with your favourite bottles and store them right.
